Preparation

  • Protect people, vehicles, property, plants and all surfaces not meant for treatment from product, residue, splashes and fumes. Use appropriate protective materials as needed.
  • Remove debris and contaminants such as oil, dirt, rubber and loose materials that could prevent CreteFill Spall Repair from bonding properly.
  • Surface Condition: Clean, rough concrete typically provides the best results. The repair area must be dry before application.
  • Spall Preparation: Cut a vertical edge at least ½ inch deep around the perimeter of the spall and remove all loose material and dust. Vacuum or blow off cement dust before application.
  • Equipment: Use appropriate mixing and application equipment suitable for CreteFill Spall Repair, along with appropriate safety equipment.
  • Coverage: Coverage varies depending on the size and depth of the spall or repair area. Sand may be added to increase volume and strength.

Standard Application Procedure

  1. CreteFill Spall Repair is a two-component, 1:1 system. Mix Parts A and B according to the manufacturer’s recommended ratio. Do not dilute or thin the product. Dry silica sand may be added at 1:1 to 1:2 ratio for increased strength and volume.
  2. Clean the prepared spall or repair area thoroughly and ensure the surface is dry before application.
  3. Apply CreteFill Spall Repair into the prepared area, allowing the material to fill and level the repair. Overfill slightly if needed.
  4. Work in manageable sections due to the short pot life and ensure the material is evenly distributed throughout the repair area.
  5. Allow the material to set. Under suitable conditions, CreteFill Spall Repair returns the surface to service in approximately 45 minutes.
  6. Protect the repaired area from traffic and loading until the material has sufficiently cured.
  7. After application, clean tools and equipment according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Maintenance

  • Keep repaired areas free of dirt, debris and contaminants.
  • Inspect repaired spalls and concrete surfaces periodically for signs of damage or deterioration.
  • Repair damaged or deteriorated areas as needed to maintain the integrity of the concrete surface.
