Preparation
- Protect people, vehicles, property, plants and all surfaces not meant for treatment from product, residue, splashes and fumes. Use appropriate protective materials as needed.
- Auto scrub the floor with CreteClean Plus with Scar Guard or CreteClean Plus with Scar Guard Single Dose to prepare the surface.
- Identify and remove any coatings, cure and seals, or bond breakers that may block liquid absorption into the floor before applying KickStart.
- Surface Condition: Apply to a clean, damp floor for best results.
- Equipment: Pump-up sprayer, broom or scrubber, diamond grinding equipment, auto scrubber, and appropriate safety equipment.
- Coverage: 400 ft²/gal (9.8 m²/L).
Standard Application Procedure
- Apply KickStart at a rate of 400 ft²/gal (9.8 m²/L) to a clean, damp floor using a pump-up sprayer.
- Broom or scrub in KickStart for consistent coverage.
- Select the appropriate diamonds to achieve the required first cut depth. Grind in a crosshatch pattern (one pass in one direction, followed by the next pass perpendicular), overlapping the grinder halfway for a consistent scratch pattern.
- Sparingly add water during grinding if needed (preferably through the grinder tank). Avoid over-wetting to prevent diluting KickStart.
- Continue the grinding/polishing process as required for the desired finish (cream, salt ‘n pepper, or exposed aggregate). KickStart allows fewer steps and better diamond performance.
- Remove all slurry from the floor and auto scrub with CreteClean Plus with Scar Guard solution.
- If dyeing the floor, apply dye at this stage.
- Proceed with densification (Ashford Formula or RetroPlate) according to the respective product instructions.
Maintenance
- After densification and polishing, maintain the floor with regular cleaning using CreteClean Plus with Scar Guard.
- Keep the surface free of dirt, debris and contaminants.
- Inspect the floor periodically and perform additional polishing or maintenance as needed to preserve clarity and performance.
